Nine Dubai parks worth the drive this season: where the toddler playgrounds, bike paths and barbecue spots are, what entry costs and how late each stays open.

Best Parks in Dubai for Families: Fees, Hours and What Kids Love

The best parks in Dubai for families are the big Municipality parks, Zabeel, Al Safa, Creek, Mushrif and Al Mamzar, at AED 3 to AED 5 a person, plus Quranic Park and a handful of neighbourhood parks that cost nothing. Under-twos go free everywhere below, and one booking covers the whole family. Park season runs from October to April, so now is the time to plan.

Zabeel Park

Between Zabeel and Al Karama, a 10-minute walk from Max Metro. There are children's play areas (adapted for people of determination), bike rental, a running track with fitness equipment and designated barbecue areas. One to save for a long Saturday.

📍 Directions: Zabeel

Al Safa Park

64 hectares on Sheikh Zayed Road, next to Dubai Canal. It has plenty of shade, bikes to rent for a few dirhams and permanent barbecues around the edge. Older children can use the basketball and tennis courts or the football field, and late afternoon is lovely here.

📍 Directions: Al Safa

Creek Park

In Umm Hurair, with a paved promenade along Dubai Creek. Playgrounds are dotted all over, there are free barbecue spots and bikes to rent. People of determination enter free.

📍 Directions: Creek

Mushrif National Park

One of Dubai's oldest parks (1974): 749 hectares and more than 70,000 trees. Children love the International Village of 13 model houses; older ones can try the mountain bike trail or part of the 9.7 km hiking trail. Driving in costs AED 10 on top of entry.

📍 Directions: Mushrif

Al Mamzar Beach Park

106 hectares with five beaches, three pools, lawns, a play area and barbecue spots, so you can do sand and swings in one trip. Car entry is AED 30. Monday and Wednesday are ladies' days, so plan a family trip for another day.

📍 Directions: Al Mamzar

Quranic Park

Free, in Al Khawaneej, open 9am to 9pm. Twelve orchards of plants named in the Quran, shaded walkways and two play areas for ages 2 to 12.

📍 Directions: Quranic Park

Three free neighbourhood parks

  • Al Barsha Pond Park (Al Barsha 2): almost 50 acres around a pond, with washrooms, a 1.5 km track, kids' cycling areas, sandy shaded playgrounds with rides for toddlers, and floodlights at night
  • Umm Suqeim Park: a sand pit, swings and a jogging track metres from the sea; it is for children, ladies and families
  • Al Khazzan Park (Al Satwa): small and solar-powered, with a shaded play area and a picnic area

Hours for these three are not published online, so check at the gate.

📍 Directions: Al Barsha Pond · Umm Suqeim · Al Khazzan

Shade, heat and timing

Even in October the middle of the day is hot, so go in the morning or late afternoon, pick a playground under trees and take more water than you think. Al Safa, Quranic Park, Al Khazzan and the Barsha Pond playgrounds all have shaded spots. For more ideas, try free things to do with kids in Dubai, family beaches or farms to visit.

Something to do this weekend

Pick one park from the table, tap Directions, and go before 10am while the playgrounds are still in the shade. Pack water, a hat and a ball. Then check the Calendar for what else is on this weekend, and tell us in the Community which park your children love most, so other mums can find it too.
