Pedal boats, a shallow sunset beach, a playground by a mountain dam and views from 1,250 metres: eight Ras Al Khaimah spots for the cooler months, with fees and hours.

Best Parks in Ras Al Khaimah for Families: Fees, Hours and What Kids Love

The best parks in Ras Al Khaimah for families are Saqr Park (from AED 5, a lake with pedal boats and rides), the free neighbourhood parks Al Uraibi and Apple Park, and Khuzam Park for mums and children. Add free Flamingo Beach, the Al Qawasim Corniche, and two mountain days: the Wadi Shawka dam playground and the Jais Viewing Deck Park (AED 10). Here's what each costs, when it opens and what your children will run to first.

Saqr Park: the big day out

Saqr Park has been the emirate's family park since 1991. Children head for the lake with its waterfall and pedal boats, then the rides: carousel, splash ride, bumper cars and a Ferris wheel. There's a little train across the grounds, trails for scooters and bikes, shady trees and a barbecue area.

Here's the practical bit: Visit Ras Al Khaimah lists entry at AED 5 per person, the Jebel Jais site says AED 10, and parking is AED 20; rides and boats cost extra. Hours are listed as 7:30am to 11pm (Friday to midnight), so call ahead (+971 7 233 8998) if you're driving in for it.

Al Uraibi and Apple Park: free and close to home

Al Uraibi Park is one of the city's most popular free parks, with slides and swings, paths for bikes and a shaded picnic area with tables and grills. Apple Park on Al Hisn Road in Sidroh is a green community park with walking tracks and a playground, open 7am to 10pm.

Khuzam Park: for mums and children

Khuzam is for women and children only, which makes it an easy morning with toddlers. Shaded paths, a small bicycle track, swings and slides, picnic spots and a cafeteria. Entry is free, and it's listed as open 6am to 10pm.

📍 Directions: Khuzam Park

By the water: the Corniche and Flamingo Beach

The Al Qawasim Corniche is a 3 km promenade past the mangroves with a children's play area and room for bikes, and it comes alive in the evening. On Al Marjan Island, a 7 km path runs along the sea.

Flamingo Beach is free, with free parking, lifeguards and shallow, calm water, open 6am to 8pm. It fills up at weekends, so go early.

Wadi Shawka: a playground by the dam

In the Hajar mountains, the recreational area by the Shawka dam has a children's play area and barbecue spots beside the lake. Visit Ras Al Khaimah suggests November to April. For little legs, the Sidir Trail on the lower slopes of Jebel Jais is an easy 1.6 km.

📍 Directions: Wadi Shawka Dam

Jais Viewing Deck Park: the view from the top

At 1,250 metres, seven viewing decks and 12 binoculars look out over the mountain road and the Gulf, and you may spot zipliners flying past. Entry is AED 10 per person, open 8am to 8pm Sunday to Thursday and until 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunset is around 5:30 to 6pm.

📍 Directions: Jais Viewing Deck Park

Shade, heat and timing

October to April is park season. Early in the season, go before 10am or after 4pm, pack more water than you think, hats and a blanket, and pick a shaded spot: Saqr Park's trees or Al Uraibi's picnic shelter.

Something to do this weekend

Pick one park from the table, tap Directions and go early. Saqr Park's pedal boats or Flamingo Beach both work for a first visit. Then check the Calendar for what's on, and tell us in the Community which RAK park your children love. Worth reading next: farms to visit with kids and UAE public holidays for longer breaks.
