Join mumma moves UAE on Strava and help us get more mums moving

We've launched mumma moves UAE, a free Strava club for mums across the UAE. Walk, run, cycle, swim or lift: if you'd like a little more motivation to move, you're invited.

We've created something new for the mumma community: mumma moves UAE, our free Strava club for mums across the UAE. And no, you absolutely do not need to be a runner. You can walk, run, cycle, swim, lift weights, hike, get outside with the pram, or simply use it as a reason to move a little more often. The idea is simple: make movement feel more social, more achievable and more fun.

Why we created mumma moves

Most of us already know that moving more is good for us. Actually making it happen while juggling children, work, school runs, appointments and everything else is another story.

Sometimes a little accountability helps. Sometimes seeing another mum squeeze in a 30-minute walk makes you think, okay, I can probably do that too. And sometimes it is simply nicer when you are not doing it alone.

That is what we want mumma moves to become. Not a hardcore fitness club, and not a place where everyone needs to run fast or train for a marathon. Just a community of mums encouraging each other to move.

What counts?

Pretty much anything that gets you moving:

  • A school-run walk, or a lap of the park with the pram
  • A 5K, or twenty minutes on the treadmill
  • A cycle with the kids, a swim or a strength session
  • A long weekend walk, or a workout squeezed in before everyone wakes up

It all counts. The club's own page says it plainly: no pace requirements, no fitness level, no pressure.

How a Strava club works

Once you join a club, the club page shows upcoming events, recent posts and a feed of members' activities, so your walk sits alongside everyone else's and other mums can give you kudos (Strava's thumbs-up).

Each club also has a weekly leaderboard that resets on Sunday night. In a multisport club, Strava ranks the week by time spent moving rather than distance, so a 40-minute pram walk sits next to a 40-minute run. And if the club isn't for you, leaving is two taps away under the club's Overview.

How to join in four steps

  1. Download Strava or create a free account.
  2. Open mumma moves UAE and tap Join Club.
  3. Start logging the activities you already do.
  4. Give another mum some kudos when you spot her moving too.

Keep your home location private

Many of us start a walk from the front door. Once you have uploaded your first activity, Strava hides the first and last 200 metres of your maps by default. In Privacy Controls you can go further: hide the area around your home address, hide the start and end of every activity, or hide the whole map.

You also choose who sees each activity: Everyone, Followers or Only You. Worth knowing: an activity set to Only You does not appear in the club feed or on leaderboards.

Moving safely in the heat

The Dubai Health Authority's heat advice: go early, when it is cooler, and stay in the shade where you can. Drink water before you start, not only after. Build up with low, gentle sessions, choose an activity that suits your health, and keep the same time each day so it becomes a habit.

On a hot day a treadmill walk counts too. A sunrise stroll along the water is hard to beat: our family beaches guide has a few to start from.

Start before Dubai Fitness Challenge

Dubai Fitness Challenge returns for its tenth edition from 31 October to 29 November 2026, inviting every age, ability and fitness level to move for 30 minutes a day for 30 days. Its big moment is Dubai Run on Sunday 22 November, starting at 06:30, with 5 km and 10 km routes; registration is on the Challenge's own site.

Join now and you'll have a few weeks of the habit before the 30 days begin. Not in Dubai? mumma moves is UAE-wide, and 30 minutes a day works in every emirate.

The more mums who join, the more we can create

There is another reason we would love you to join. The bigger mumma moves becomes, the more we can build around it. We would like to create:

  • mumma walks and run clubs, including pram-friendly walks
  • beginner-friendly fitness sessions
  • Pilates, yoga and strength events
  • monthly movement challenges and outdoor activities

When we talk to potential partners, one of the most useful things we can show them is how many mums want to take part. So simply joining the club helps. You don't need to do every challenge or come to every event, and you don't need to be sporty. Your membership shows this is something UAE mums want.

Something to do this week

mumma has always been about making life in the UAE a little easier, more connected and more interesting for mums, and mumma moves is the next little piece of that. Join mumma moves UAE on Strava, log one walk, and give one other mum some kudos.

If you're not in the mumma Community yet, join us there too, and read how the community started. More ideas: free things to do in Dubai and what's on. We would love to have you.
